the beautiful and the smelly

in the garden at frogshollow

With spring here at frogshollow at flaxton there has been an eruption of flowers in the garden. The beautiful waratahs have come into flower and have been selling at the markets as cut flowers. Also there has been an eruption from a deciduous plant called Amorphallus konjac or more commonly the Voodoo Lily. It grew to more than my height in 2 days, and emits the smell of rotting meat to attract flies which it uses to pollinate it. It really is the beautiful and the smelly.
