just some of what the Sunshine Coast hinterland has to offer
The Sunshine Coast Hinterland along the Blackall Range has an average elevation of 420-450m.  It is famous for its pristine environment; fabulous walks and views; historic townships including Montville, Mapleton and Maleny; specialty shops; art galleries; food producers and restaurants. In winter the visitor is treated to log fires and in summer the higher altitude takes the sting out of the summer heat.

local townships

Close by to frogshollow at flaxton B&B accommodation are the historic townships of Montville, Mapleton and Maleny. The visitor can tour the dairy or sample cheeses at the cheese factory in Maleny or just mix with the locals in the main street, shop for anything and everything in Montville or just sit on the verandah of the old pub in Mapleton and take in the glorious view all the way down to the ocean.

Slightly further afield, at the other end of the picturesque Obi Obi Valley lies the township of Kenilworth, also famous for its cheese factory, bakery and historic pub, as well as its Wine and Food Festival every Easter.

The famous Sunshine Coast beaches including Mooloolaba and Noosa are also just a 30-45 minute drive away.

great walk and bushwalking

The 58km Sunshine Coast Great Walk is on the doorstep of frogshollow at flaxton, with the Flaxton Walkers Camp just 1 kilometre away. The track takes the walker through rainforest and tall open eucalypt forest, across creeks and beside waterfalls and swimming holes. It traverses Kondalilla National Park and into Mapleton State Forest, with shorter sections suitable for day visitors. More experienced walkers can camp out for several nights in the various Walkers Camps.

We can arrange to drop guests of frogshollow cabin at one end of a section of the track at a mutually convenient time and they can either walk back to the cabin or to where their car is parked.
